Seven departments, one warehouse. Every clay and glaze page carries its firing range, its shrinkage and its fired colour, because that is what you are actually buying.
We stock it, so you are not waiting on a mill.
Clay is bought by the pallet and turned over fast, so the box you open is fresh and wedges properly. Dry materials are kept in a dry room and weighed to order. Kiln shelves, posts and cones sit on the same floor as the clay, which is why a studio restock leaves as one shipment instead of four.

A pyrometric cone measures heatwork — temperature and time together — which is the only honest way to describe what a clay or a glaze needs. Every material page on this site carries its usable range on the same scale.
- Cone 06–04 Low fire
- Earthenware bodies, bright commercial glazes, underglazes and decals.
- Cone 5–6 Mid fire
- The working range of most studios: vitrified stoneware and durable dinnerware glazes.
- Cone 8–10 High fire
- Reduction stoneware and porcelain — celadons, shinos and tenmokus.

Test tiles, not promises.
Every glaze we list is fired here on the clay bodies we sell, at the cones we claim, and photographed on the tile rather than in a lightbox. Where a glaze breaks differently over a dark body or moves on a vertical surface, the listing says so.
If a batch of a raw material moves, we retest it before it ships.
How an order actually ships
Clay is heavy and kilns are freight. Here is exactly what happens after you check out — the same terms are on the shipping page.
- Processing
- Orders pack in 1–2 working days. Anything placed before 1pm Central on a working day is usually on the truck the next morning.
- Ground
- $9.95 flat for parcels, free over $199. Boxed clay ships ground up to the carrier weight limit; heavier studio quantities are quoted as freight.
- Freight
- Kilns, wheels, slab rollers and pallet quantities ship LTL, curbside, with a delivery appointment. We confirm the address is truck-accessible before the pallet leaves.
- Cold weather
- Moist clay can freeze in transit between December and February. We hold or insulate winter shipments to northern addresses on request, at no charge.
- Damage
- Photograph the pallet or carton before you sign, and tell us within five days. We replace breakage and file the claim ourselves.
- Returns
- 30 days on unopened, unfired goods in resalable condition — full terms on the returns page.
